Let’s take a look at some of the matchups between the Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots that we will see on Sunday:

Sean McVay vs. Bill Belichick:

The 33-year-old phenom head coach, McVay, gets his chance to prove himself against not only the greatest football coach ever, but one of the greatest coaches in the history of sport. McVay is whip smart and creative, and his playbook is as intricate as we’ve seen in the league in a long while. Belichick and the Super Bowl go hand-in-hand … it’s up to McVay to change that.

Rams D-Line vs. Tom Brady:

If the Rams have plans on hoisting the Lombardi trophy, they are going to have to get to Tom Brady (which is way easier said than done). The Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, who have talented defensive fronts, were not able to pressure and hurry Brady with enough consistency to disrupt the five-time Super Bowl champion’s flow. Aaron Donald and Co. are in for a tough task, but getting it done is the key to beating the Pats on Sunday.

Jared Goff vs. The Moment:

Through the first couple years of his career, the jury was still out on Jared Goff. As his partnership with Sean McVay has become more of a talking point, questions about his individual abilities have started to surface. Regardless of that fact, Goff is a supremely talented player who has flourished under the play-calling of his head coach. There is no other way around it — Goff needs to have a great game in order for the Rams to win this game. Goff’s ability to control his emotions on such a stage will be an element to key in on.

The Patriots vs Time:

Philip Rivers was supposed to beat Brady in the playoffs for the first time in his career, and the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs were supposed to have too much talent for the Pats and yet, the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl. The dynasty has continued, and Brady said over the weekend that there is a “zero percent” chance that Super Bowl LIII will be his last game. Even though the Patriots look like they aren’t slowing down any time soon, the window is absolutely on its way to closing. The Rams are young, talented and have the ability to dethrone the Patriots if they play their best game. If we know anything about the Patriots, that’s exactly what it will take.
