John Carroll celebrated a resounding victory in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, securing an impressive 89-65 triumph at their home opener taking place at the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
The Blue Streaks wasted no time asserting their dominance, winning the tip-off and setting the tone early in the game.

Luke Chicone ‘25 made a significant impact in the beginning with a three-pointer at the top of the key, kickstarting his remarkable 23-point performance at the DeCarlo Center. A quick response on defense from Will Yontek ‘25 on a missed shot further solidified John Carroll’s early lead, prompting a 25-14 advantage.

Maintaining momentum, Chase Toppin’s ‘25 and-one play added to the excitement, energizing the crowd. While Ohio Northern managed to sink several three-pointers, John Carroll remained consistent in their offensive efforts, leading to a 47-27 advantage at halftime. The second half witnessed John Carroll’s unwavering commitment to the game.

Chicone ‘25, Luke Frazier ‘25 and Brandon Rose ‘27 showcased their skills this entire half, extending the lead and thrilling the crowd even more. As the game progressed, the Blue Streaks pulled away, eventually securing a convincing 89-65 victory.

The offensive prowess of the Blue Streaks was nothing short of remarkable, seeing as John Carroll held the lead throughout the entire 40 minutes of play. Improving to a flawless 5-0 record for the season, the Blue Streaks once again asserted their dominance as the No. 3 team in the nation.

The 34-point victory over Ohio Northern marked the largest margin of victory in the 78-game history between the two teams which is a substantial milestone for the Blue Streaks. The team expressed their pride in winning at home, showing how happy they were afterward.

This win has not only set the tone for the rest of the season but has also established John Carroll as a force to be reckoned with in the OAC. Looking ahead, John Carroll will hit the road for their next challenge against Muskingum University in New Concord on Sat., Dec. 9, where they will aim to build on their impressive start to the season.
