Recently, I have been on a Cedar Point kick. My friends and I love traveling to Sandusky to experience a fun-filled day at the park: riding roller coasters, eating overpriced food and walking so much our “young” hips start to hurt.
For three years running, I’ve made the effort to go once every year to Cedar Point. I have enjoyed each trip immensely, and, this year, I finally broke down and bought a season pass for $99. The tickets are normally around $60 for one trip, so I felt I would save quite a bit of money. To keep in the Halloween spirit, this weekend I went back to the park to enjoy spooky season and some HalloWeekend activities.
When we first got into the park at 11 a.m., we immediately noticed that it was already busy and started to worry that the lines would be extremely long. Typically, Cedar Point brings in roughly three million thrill-seekers every year, so it’s always important to get there as early as possible. Despite the amount of people, magically we went to Gatekeeper and got on within five minutes. The rest was history. For some reason, every line was a breeze, and we even made it in the front two rows on Steel Vengeance after only waiting about 15 minutes.
The beauty of Cedar Point is the thrill of the roller coasters, and that is exactly what we got on Sunday. The feeling of anticipation while joking in line with friends, then the terrifying first hill on each ride. Feeling like you can touch the sky if the cart goes only an inch higher, then falling and hoping the track will catch you. We felt every twist and turn, had a lot of fun posing for each camera and loved laughing at the pictures when leaving.
We were in awe of the HalloWeekend decorations, which are always interesting and get everyone in the Halloween spirit. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to go into any of the haunted houses or mazes because the sun never quite went down, and we also were tired by 7 p.m. and the park closed at 8 p.m.
However, the last time I went to HalloWeekend, the extra events were not that scary and I had more fun riding the roller coasters in the dark than walking through the haunted houses and mazes. I was excited to get on every roller coaster that we wanted to on Sunday, and that is the most anyone can wish for at Cedar Point.
All in all, my favorite part of the day was getting to spend time with my awesome friends. I don’t always get a chance to visit with Trenton, Riley and Mia because we are all very busy, so it was a blessing to have the day to ourselves and enjoy all of the lines and roller coasters together. We laughed and reminisced in line, then screamed and threw our hands up during each ride.
Since I have my season pass, I will definitely be returning to Cedar Point for more HalloWeekend fun, and will hopefully bring even more friends next time to share in the wonderful experience. Visiting amusement parks is one of my favorite adventures, and I cannot wait to spend more time with the people I care about while having the time of our lives at Cedar Point.
