No Student Government meeting last week means double on the agenda for this Tuesday’s meeting. First, the announcement of the newly elected executive board was mentioned. Ryan Moore ’26 will now become President and Mike Noonan ’26 will become Vice President. The director of Student Organizations-elect is Chad Harpster ’26. Sydney Lockey ’27 will become the director of Business Affairs. Lastly, Mariam Al-Saffar ’27 is the elect for the director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
Current Student Government President Morgan Anderson ’25, said “I feel confident in all of their abilities. I think they are going to do an incredible job. I am very proud to see all the work that we have done and can’t wait to see the work that they’re going to be doing too.” The elected candidates will take on their roles at the inauguration in the first week of the second semester.
Next on the agenda was looking at the Mission Priority Examen (MPE) Provisional Campus Visit. The visit happens every seven years. The committee looks at the goal of compassion and care for every student. Some priorities are identified as ones that can be worked on, in which all priorities are assessed.
The last committee, which was established in 2016, had five priorities. This year, there are three. Noonan said, “The three priorities that are being looked at this year are: embodying our mission of accompaniment, illumination of the Jesuit advantage and igniting purpose through care of the whole person.” The committee is made up of people from all different departments. It ranges from human resources to campus ministry. The head of the committee is Edward Peck, who holds a doctorate in Christian ethics.
Lastly, the Senate approved an appointment (APT)-04-F24 which called for Tate Farinacci ’25 to join the vacant Senator position in the Class of 2025. Farinacci will also be part of the academic affairs committee.
