Thanksgiving is over which means finals, busy coursework and a whole lot of studying are ahead. But, this also means that the Christmas season has officially started and deals are popping up for those hoping to decorate on a budget.
One should consider the size of the room. Since many dorm rooms are small, there may not be much space. If that is the case, Five Below might be an option from a four-foot tree to ornaments, gifts, lights and more. The closest location is in Warrensville Heights, but one still gets the same deals in the online storefront. However, Five Below does charge a shipping fee of about $7 to have everything delivered. Five Below also has a section of products that are titled ‘Five Beyond’ if one has a more expensive taste.
Another option for scoring great deals is Dollar Tree or Goodwill. These are two options that also provide the bang for the buck. Both stores have a location in University Heights. Dollar Tree offers many decorations such as ornaments, garlands, signs and candy. Starting at $1.25, the store also offers bags and gift wrappings for gifts to give in the season of giving. Goodwill, on the other hand, provides decor at different price points. But, the store also offers ugly sweaters.
However, what is not ugly is a little hack. If a store like Target or Walmart suits one’s needs, maybe wait until after Christmas. It sounds crazy, but many products go for a percentage off after the holiday. One can stock up early and be the first to decorate next holiday season.
One last option for Christmas shopping is Amazon. The online storefront boasts many deals around the holiday season. With Amazon Prime, a package can appear in two days or less. The website has everything from ornaments to reindeer figurines to inflatables (although it may not be recommended for a dorm room). Amazon is limitless with several options.
To decorate for the holidays and the season of giving does not need much. It takes a little glitz and glam and certainly does not need to take a whole lot of money. Even Mariah Carey starts by saying, “I don’t want a lot for Christmas.”
