A partial power outage affected several buildings on the campus of John Carroll University, according to a campus alert issued to students and staff.
The university said the outage impacted the O’Malley Center, St. Ignatius Hall, Dolan Science Center, Boler College of Business, Rodman Hall, Bernet Hall and the Grasselli Library.
In a statement, the university said the disruption was linked to an external provider. “Due to the unexpected FirstEnergy outage, classes will be cancelled this morning and the first classes will meet at 12:30 p.m.,” the alert said.
The university advised members of the campus community to use caution when entering affected buildings. For students who need accommodations during the outage, officials said the Rec Plex and Student Center have full power and the dining hall remains open.
“Staff should contact their supervisor for further instruction,” the university said. “As soon as we have additional information from FirstEnergy, we will share it. Please continue to monitor your emails and University messages.”
No additional details were immediately available about the cause of the outage. Power was fully restored at 8:35 am. University officials did not report any injuries or major disruptions to campus operations.
