As someone who will always choose books over movies in any context, I often find it difficult to finish a TV series. I can read a multi-book series in a few days, but it can take me months, or years, to finish one show if the show is “The Vampire Diaries.”
I tend to be selective about the shows I decide to start watching. I look for shows with a strong plot that keeps me interested and avoid series that focus solely on building characters. With this in mind, here are some shows and series that I have actually been able to finish.
- “Panic”
- Would you risk your life for the sake of money? For the teenagers in “Panic,” the answer would be yes. This show follows a group of newly graduated high school seniors who play a secretive game called “Panic” in an attempt to win thousands of dollars. The game features high-risk challenges, like breaking and entering into a guarded house or driving two cars head first towards each other, all with the attempt to weed out the players until the bravest survives. Living in a small and poor town, the stakes and emotions are high as this money could be the only thing that allows them to get out of their small town. I enjoyed how fast-paced this show was and how each episode was completely different from the last. I found myself captivated by each dangerous challenge and all the juicy drama that surrounds the characters. If you are looking for a show that will keep you on the edge of your seat each episode, look no further than “Panic.”
- “The Society”
- What would happen if all the adults left a town, leaving only teenagers behind? One hypothesis can be found in the show “The Society.” In this show, a class of high school students return from a field trip to learn that all the adults have been mysteriously removed from their town. The teenagers are left on their own and have to establish their own society in order to find some sort of peace. But, naturally, peace is hard to achieve and chaos ensues. If you are interested in human behavior, this is the show for you. In ten episodes, viewers are exposed to the best and the worst of humanity, which I found fascinating to watch. However, it was only given one season, and I am still mad about it.
- “How to Get Away With Murder”
- If you are a fan of shows dealing with the law, this show is for you. This show follows a group of law students who quickly realize that practicing law has a dark side. Chosen to intern under famous defense attorney Annalise Keating, the students, known as the “Keating 5,” are thrown directly into a world of murder, cheating, lying and everything in between. This show was six seasons long, but that did not phase me at all because of how entertaining and thrilling it is. Each episode left me wanting to watch more and more, which is a rarity for me.
If you are like me and cannot finish TV shows, you should give one of these a try. I tried to choose ones that I feel are not super popular, so hopefully this gives you some new shows to check out.
