Women’s Track and Field- Leah Fritsch ‘26
Senior Leah Fritsch was named NCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on April 14 after her record-breaking javelin throw at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University. Fritsch’s mark of 42.78 meters sets her at number 10 overall in Division 3 and first atop the North Coast Athletic Conference. Placing 9 out of 27 competitors across all divisions at Bucknell University, this is Fritsch’s first NCAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week accolade. Women’s Track and Field will be competing in their conference meet at Kenyon College on May 1 and 2 next weekend.
Men’s Tennis- Dylan Murlin ‘28
Sophomore Dylan Murlin played a crucial role in guiding the Men’s Tennis team to their first NCAC win. Murlin, a former JCU Men’s Soccer goalie, clutched a victory over Ohio Wesleyan with doubles partner Cavan Boutillette on April 2, 2026. Murlin also took a scrappy win in his singles competition, making history for the Blue Streaks after winning the tiebreaker 7-2. Murlin was also named as the second NCAC Athlete of the Week for JCU Men’s Tennis.
Women’s Lacrosse- Josephine Lawler ‘26
Senior Josephine Lawler becomes JCU Women’s Lacrosse all-time saves leader after recording her 227 save at Oberlin in the Streaks’ 10-5 win. With seven saves during the game, Lawler surpassed Elyssa Zablo’s record of 226 from the 2017-19 season. Lawler has played a crucial role in the success of the Blue Streaks, appearing in 13 games so far this season. The Blue Streaks will take on Denison for their next game on April 25 at Don Shula Stadium, looking to expand on their winning streak.
Baseball- Jake Corll ‘26
Senior Jake Corll, starting pitcher for the Blue Streaks, was named Pitcher of the Week for the NCAC twice in March. He received the awards the weeks of March 10 and 24. This was the first time a Blue Streak had been honored with the NCAC Pitcher of the Week accolade. Corll and the Blue Streaks took care of business down in Florida at the RussMatt Invitational in Florida, with Corll allowing only 1 earned run in 12 innings. Corll is a staple piece for the Blue Streaks, who will face DePauw University on April 25.
Women’s Track and Field- Breanna Berwald ‘26
Senior Breanna Berwald received her first NCAC Field Athlete of the Week award for the week of April 7 after her two top ranked performances in the discus and hammer throw at the Wooster Invitational. Berwald threw a personal best of 39.30 meters in the discus and 37.99 meters in the hammer throw, ranking third and ninth in the NCAC, respectively. Women’s Track and Field will be competing in their conference meet at Kenyon College on May 1 and 2 next weekend.
