Each week The Carroll News sports section names five Blue Streak athletes “Streaks of the Week”. Congratulations to this week’s athletes on their outstanding performances.

The women’s team picked up right where they left off with two dominant wins over Heidelberg. Leading the way in the second victory was Balfour, who registered a career-high 15 points.

Men’s Basketball: Sophomore, Eric Hanna

While it was tough sledding for the men’s team on Friday — as they dropped their first game of the season to Heidelberg, a bright spot was Hanna who finished with a team-high 11 points> He also made three triples in the first start of his young career.

Men’s Track and Field: Sophomore, Alex Phillip

Phillip ran a 5K for the ages last Saturday in the OAC Meet at Otterbein. The sophomore ran the race in 14:33.65, setting a new school record. His time currently ranks second in the nation.

Women’s Track and Field: Sophomore, Taylor Anthony

Anthony also had a great day on the track as she won the 60-meter dash in 7.9 seconds.  It was the sophomore’s first win as a Blue Streak and she also earned OAC Athlete of the Week.

Wrestling: Freshman, Jeff Kusar

At the Baldwin Wallace Duals, the No. 2 ranked team in the country Blue Streaks, lost to the Yellow Jackets but defeated Otterbein soundly.  Kusar picked up his first collegiate win against the Cardinals at heavyweight.
