Streaks of the Week

Each week The Carroll News sports section names five Blue Streak athletes “Streaks of the Week”. Congratulations to this week’s athletes on their outstanding performances.
Women’s Track & Field: Freshman, Cameron Bujaucius
In the 3,000 meter run at the Midwest Open in Geneva, Ohio, Bujaucius broke a school record with her 10:12.82 finish, in which she placed second. She broke the previous record of 10:16.46 that dates back to 2016.
Wrestling: Sophomore, Jarrod Brezovec
Brezovec tallied his 50th career win at the Pete Willson Invitational in Wheaton, Illinois. He won his first three matches by a score of 13–3, which placed him in the semifinal round of the championship bracket.
Women’s Track & Field: Senior, Ashura Powell
In back-to-back weeks, Powell has broken school records due to her strong efforts in Blue and Gold. This time around at the Midwest Open, she won the 400-meter dash in 57.98, shattering her own previous record.
Men’s Track & Field: Junior, Nick Colby
Breaking records is not unfamiliar for Colby. This time around, Colby broke his own record of 18.34 meters in the weight throw. He beat his previous mark by nearly one-meter, which was set on Feb. 17, 2018.
Women’s Track & Field: Freshman, Olivia Hurtt
Hurtt broke former thrower Alexis Johnson’s record of 14.38 meters in the weight throw with her second place finish at the Midwest Open. Hurtt tallied a 14.71 meter throw in her fourth event as a Blue Streak.
