Back-to-School Street Style

New York Fashion Week is normally the time we see for the first time all the possible fall trends. This year, the fall street style is looking as unique as ever.

John Carroll may be still feeling the heat of summer, but it is never too early to start drooling over the newest trends to watch out for.

Coming back to school with a refreshed wardrobe not only motivates you look your best, but feel your best too. With old classics such as bell bottoms, corduroy, mules and the iconic plaid of the 90s, you will be studying in style.

Emily Farra, writer for Vogue Magazine and observer of NYFW 2018, states “others are into the post-post punk thing; either way, it feels like a reaction to all of the menswear tweeds and neutral plaids of seasons past.”

Some college men like wearing throwback jerseys on their weekends. This fall, women should rock the clashing plaids and peachy pastels their mothers wore 25 years ago back in their own college dorms.

This season’s best men’s wear can be found straight from the rainy streets of New York, including vibrant puffer jackets, trench coats matched with simple sneakers or leather loafers

Another new trend is reflected in designer Christopher Bailey’s final Burberry show. Farra states, “the Pride-inspired rainbow puffers and knits to the brand’s large donation to LGBTQ+ organizations, the feel good moment may just have inspired us to wear every color.”

Floral and vibrant colors used to be only for the spring. A new fashion concept is as the weather gets darker and colder, “your florals should get brighter,” commented Farra.

The expectant trends to hit college classrooms may be just the pajamas from the night before for some, but plaid will flourish once again, vibrant new waves of athleisure for a full-on throwback and maybe some subtle fringe playfully placed on trimmed tops.

Every college kid has their own unique stamp of style or go-to boots on a rainy day. Thanks to all of the Instagram bloggers and Vogue queens all over the nation, we know what is in and what is out. Pull out your oversized jackets and mom jeans though; they’ll be sticking around a little while longer.
